What lives in the G2 MCP

Four streams of first-party data, available inside your AI conversations.

Buyer Intent Signals

Real-time signals showing which companies are actively researching your product category on G2 — including profile views, pricing page visits, and comparison activity.

Competitive Intelligence

Live data on which competitors’ prospects are co-evaluating alongside your product, comparison patterns, and category-wide competitive activity trends.

Product & Market Data

Your product catalog, category memberships, and market-level activity trends. Understand category momentum, review velocity, and market segment behavior.

Review & Voice of Customer

Structured review data including ratings, thematic sentiment, feature-level scores, and buyer language — segmented by company size, industry, and region.

Important: The G2 MCP only surfaces data for products you own and manage on G2. You will only see your own buyer intent, reviews, and competitive signals — not data for other vendors.

Getting connected

Connecting to the G2 MCP gives your AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP-compatible tool) live access to your
G2 data. Before you can connect, there are a few things to know.

01

You must be a G2 Admin

Only users with G2 Admin access can generate the credentials needed to connect the G2 MCP. If you are not a G2 Admin, you will need to work with your company’s designated G2 administrator to get set up.

02

Find your internal G2 contact

Most companies have an internal owner who manages the G2 relationship — typically someone in Marketing, Revenue Operations, or Demand Generation. Check with your marketing team or RevOps leader if you are unsure who this is.

03

Need help? Go to support.g2.com

If you cannot identify your internal G2 admin or need technical assistance connecting the MCP, visit support.g2.com. G2 support can guide you through credentials, MCP setup, and troubleshooting.

Sales — AEs, SDRs, and BDRs

Identify in-market accounts, prioritize your pipeline, and walk into every call prepared.

Finding and prioritizing hot prospects

Starter

Your real-time hot prospect list

Prompt

Show me the top 15 companies with the highest buyer intent scores for my product this week using the G2 MCP, sorted by score. Include company name, domain, industry, company size, and country.

Returns: Company list with intent scores (0–100), signal volume, visitor counts, and firmographics.

Tip: Intent scores of 70+ signal strong buying activity. Scores above 90 mean multiple people from the same company are actively researching on G2 in the same period.

Segment

Enterprise territory focus

Prompt

Show me all companies with a buyer intent score above 60 that have more than 1,000 employees, sorted by intent score descending. Include company name, domain, employee count, and total activity using the G2 MCP.

Returns: Filtered list of enterprise accounts actively researching on G2.

Tip: Combine this with a CRM export to flag which accounts are already in your pipeline versus net-new opportunities.

Priority

Multi-signal highest priority accounts

Prompt

Identify companies that have triggered more than one type of buyer intent signal for my product this week. Show me which signal types they triggered and their overall intent score using the G2 MCP.

Returns: Accounts with profile + pricing or compare + pricing activity together — the most urgent opportunities.

Tip: When a single company hits multiple signal types in the same week, that signals an internal evaluation is underway. These are your top calling priorities.

Pre-call research

Research

Single account deep dive

Prompt

Using the G2 MCP pull all available buyer intent data for [company name or domain]. Include every signal type they’ve triggered, their intent score, activity count, visitor count, and any firmographic details.

Returns: Complete G2 activity profile for a specific account — everything G2 has seen from that company.

Tip: Run this 30 minutes before any discovery call or renewal meeting to understand exactly what the account has been researching on G2.

Competitive

Are they evaluating competitors?

Prompt

I’m preparing for a call with [company name]. Are they evaluating any competitors in my category on G2? What have they been looking at and when? Using the G2 MCP.

Returns: Competitive research profile for a single account — what they’ve been comparing before you get on the call.

Tip: Going in knowing which specific competitor they’re evaluating lets you control the narrative instead of being caught off guard.

Planning

Territory priority ranking

Prompt

I have the following accounts in my territory: [list company names]. Rank them by buyer intent score and flag any that are also evaluating competitors. Tell me which 3 I should focus on this week and why using the G2 MCP.

Returns: Ranked account list with competitive flags and a recommended prioritization based on intent data.

Tip: Works best with 10–20 account names. Use weekly for pipeline reviews and 1:1s with your manager.

Customer success & account management

Detect churn risk early, prepare for renewals with confidence, and find expansion opportunities.

Churn risk detection

Churn Risk

At-risk account scan

Prompt

Which of my existing customers are currently showing competitor research activity on G2? Show me the company name, which competitors they’re viewing, their intent score, and signal types using the G2 MCP.

Returns: List of current customers actively researching competitors on G2 — early warning signals of potential churn.

Tip: A customer browsing competitor pricing pages is a very different conversation than one casually browsing a category. Filter by signal type accordingly.

Urgent

Highest-risk signals: compare + pricing together

Prompt

Flag any companies in my account list that have triggered both ‘compare’ and ‘pricing’ signal types in the last 7 days. Show me their intent score and which competitors they’re comparing using the G2 MCP.

Returns: Accounts showing late-stage competitive evaluation — viewing both comparison pages and competitor pricing.

Tip: Comparison + pricing together from an existing customer means they’re seriously evaluating a switch. CSM outreach should happen within 48 hours of this signal.

Renewal and QBR preparation

QBR Prep

Pre-QBR intelligence package

Prompt

I’m preparing for a QBR with [company name]. Show me their G2 activity in the past 30 days. Have they been researching competitors or visiting category pages? What’s their current intent score? Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Full G2 activity profile for an existing customer — competitive context before a renewal or QBR conversation.

Tip: Walking into a QBR knowing a customer has been comparing you to a competitor lets you address it proactively instead of being blindsided at renewal.

Deep Prep

Full QBR intelligence report

Prompt

Prepare a QBR intelligence package for my upcoming meeting with [company name]. Include: (1) their recent G2 activity, (2) any competitive signals, (3) what companies in their segment and industry are saying about products like mine in reviews, and (4) any trends in intent data for their industry this month. Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Full QBR prep: account-specific activity + competitive flags + market context from peer companies.

Tip: Combine with your CRM notes and Gong call history for a complete picture before strategic account conversations.

Expansion and upsell signals

Expansion

Customers browsing adjacent categories

Prompt

Are any of my current customers showing high buyer intent activity (score above 50) for adjacent categories on G2? What categories are they browsing? Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Existing customers actively researching adjacent software categories — signals for expansion or cross-sell conversations.

Tip: A current customer browsing adjacent categories is often more receptive to a new product conversation than a cold prospect. This is your expansion trigger list.

Marketing — demand generation, ABM & content

Build targeted audiences, fuel ABM programs, and create messaging grounded in real buyer language.

Demand generation & ABM audience building

ABM

High-intent ABM account list

Prompt

Give me a list of all companies with a buyer intent score above 55 from this week, broken down by country and industry. I want to use this for a targeted ad campaign. Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Segmented list of in-market accounts by geography and industry — ready for LinkedIn Campaign Manager or Google Ads.

Tip: G2 intent data as an ABM audience is one of the highest-ROI media buys available. You’re serving ads to companies actively researching your category.

Audience

Where is your in-market audience?

Prompt

What industries are most represented among companies showing buyer intent for my product category this week? Show me the top industries by company count. Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Industry breakdown of companies actively researching in your category — informs content targeting and ICP refinement.

Tip: If a specific industry is overrepresented in intent data but underrepresented in your customer base, that’s a targeting gap worth closing.

Market Pulse

Category trend analysis

Prompt

How has buyer activity in my product category trended over the past 4 weeks? Is the number of companies researching going up or down? What signal types are growing fastest? Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Week-by-week category engagement trends — whether your market is heating up or cooling down.

Tip: Use this to time campaign launches, adjust budget allocation, and brief leadership on market momentum.

Content, messaging & competitive positioning

Messaging

Real buyer language for ad copy

Prompt

Pull 10 recent highly-rated reviews for my product. What specific phrases do buyers use to describe the value they get? I want to use these in ad copy and website messaging. Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Authentic buyer language from verified G2 reviewers — the exact words your customers use to describe your product’s value.

Tip: Actual buyer language outperforms copywriter-generated taglines almost every time. This is your fastest path to converting, authentic copy.

Competitive

What do buyers hate about competitors?

Prompt

What are the most common complaints in reviews for [competitor product name]? What specific features or experiences do their reviewers rate lowest? Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Competitor weakness themes from real, verified buyer reviews — grounded in public data, not opinion.

Tip: Use this for ‘why switch’ landing pages and positioning content. Framing your strengths against competitors’ documented weaknesses is far more credible than generic claims.

Benchmarking

Review velocity comparison

Prompt

How many total reviews does my product have and how does that break down by star rating? How does this compare to [competitor product name] in terms of review count and average rating? Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Review volume and rating comparison between your product and a named competitor.

Tip: Review count signals market presence and trust. A large review gap vs a competitor is both a risk and an action item for your review generation program. Fresh reviews also directly affect your visibility in AI-generated search results.

Product marketing & competitive intelligence

Build real-time battle cards, understand category dynamics, and track competitive momentum.

Understanding your competitive landscape

Landscape

Who are you actually being compared against?

Prompt

Which competitor products are companies most frequently viewing on G2 while also showing intent for my product? Show me the top 10 by company count and include signal types. Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Ranked list of competitors that appear most often in the same evaluation window as your product.

Tip: This data is based on real co-evaluation patterns, not theoretical competitive sets. Update your battle cards based on what this actually shows — it may surprise you.

Single Competitor

Competitor deep dive

Prompt

How many companies are currently evaluating [competitor name] alongside my product? Break down by signal type (profile, pricing, compare) and show company count for each.

Returns: Complete view of competitive co-evaluation activity for a specific named competitor.

Tip: If a competitor shows up heavily in ‘compare’ signals, buyers are doing direct head-to-head evaluation. Your reps need a sharp, specific counter-narrative.

Monitoring

Weekly competitive trend report

Prompt

Give me a weekly competitive intelligence summary. Which competitor products had the most company views this week? How does that compare to the previous week? Show trends by competitor. Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Week-over-week competitive activity trends — tracking if a competitor is gaining or losing attention in your category.

Tip: A sudden spike in a competitor’s activity could signal a product launch, pricing change, or analyst mention driving buyer curiosity. Investigate before it becomes a pipeline problem.

Battle cards and positioning

Battle Card

Real-time data-driven battle card

Prompt

Build a competitive battle card for [competitor name] based on G2 data. Include: their overall rating vs mine, what buyers say are their weaknesses, what they rate highest in feature reviews, and which buyer segments tend to prefer them vs me. Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Data-driven competitive battle card with real buyer language, segment preferences, and feature rating comparisons.

Tip: Unlike static battle cards, this one reflects current reviewer sentiment. Run this quarterly to keep your competitive positioning fresh.

Segmentation

Segment-level review analysis

Prompt

Break down my product’s reviews by company segment (Small Business, Mid-Market, Enterprise). For each segment, what is the average rating and what are the common themes in the feedback? Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Segment-specific review analysis — identifying whether your product resonates differently with different buyer sizes.

Tip: If Mid-Market reviews are significantly weaker than Small Business, that tells you something important about product-market fit at scale. This informs both positioning and roadmap.

RevOps, sales leadership & executives

Weekly intelligence briefings, team-level reporting, and agentic-ready structured data outputs.

Weekly team briefings

Team Lead

Weekly sales team intelligence brief

Prompt

Generate a weekly sales brief for my team. Include: (1) top 10 highest-intent accounts this week, (2) which competitors are showing the most co-evaluation activity, (3) any notable shifts in weekly buyer activity vs last week, and (4) 3 recommended priority actions based on the data. Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Structured weekly briefing with hot accounts, competitive context, trend analysis, and recommended actions.

Tip: Share this on Monday morning. Takes 2 minutes to generate, saves hours of manual research across the entire team.

Executive

Category momentum report for leadership

Prompt

How has buyer activity in my product category trended over the past 4 weeks? Is the number of companies researching going up or down? What signal types are growing fastest? Which industries are most active? Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Category-level momentum data — buyer trends, signal mix, and industry concentration over a month.

Tip: Use this as a market pulse input for board prep, pipeline reviews, and strategic planning discussions.

Structured outputs for automations

Agent-Ready

Structured intent list for CRM sync

Prompt

List the top 20 companies by buyer intent score for my product this week. For each company return: company_name, company_domain, intent_score, signal_types (as array), visitor_count, total_activity, company_employees, company_country. Format as a structured list. Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Consistently structured output suitable for piping into downstream tools, spreadsheets, or CRM sync workflows.

Tip: When building agents that consume G2 data and trigger CRM updates or Slack alerts, use this format to get predictable, parseable output.

Agent-Ready

Churn risk alert — agent format

Prompt

Check for any accounts from this list that have shown competitor comparison or pricing activity in the past 7 days: [account list]. Return results as: account_name, competitor_viewed, signal_type, intent_score, activity_date. Flag any with intent_score above 50 as HIGH PRIORITY. Use the G2 MCP.

Returns: Structured churn risk output with priority flags — designed to feed a Slack alert, CRM field update, or CSM notification workflow.

Tip: Wrap this in an automated workflow to run weekly and post HIGH PRIORITY flags directly to a #churn-risk Slack channel. No human in the loop required.

Claude co-pilot: building agents with G2 MCP

Stop asking. Start automating. G2 intelligence delivered to the right person, at the right moment, no human in the loop.

What is an agent?

The prompts throughout this document work great inside a live Claude conversation. An agent takes that one step further: it runs those same prompts automatically on a schedule, analyzes what comes back, and pushes the output somewhere useful — a Slack channel, a CRM field, an email — without anyone manually triggering it.

When you connect Claude to the G2 MCP, you are not just giving Claude a dataset to query. You are giving it a live signal layer that it can monitor, reason about, and act on. The result is a co-pilot that watches your G2 data continuously and routes intelligence to whoever needs it, exactly when they need it.

How it works

Scheduler

Daily, weekly, or real-time trigger

→
Claude + G2 MCP

Queries data, reasons + summarizes

→
Routing logic

Who needs this? How urgent is it?

→
Slack / CRM

Alert lands where work already happens

What you need to build these agents: Claude (via Anthropic API or Claude.ai with MCP) • G2 MCP connected • Slack MCP or webhook • A scheduler (GitHub Actions, cron, Make.com, or any automation tool).

Customer signal agents

Protect revenue. Surface churn risk and expansion signals before they surface in a renewal conversation.

Negative review alert

CS · PRODUCT · MARKETING
Trigger

A new 1 or 2-star review is posted on your G2 product page.

What Claude does

Claude reads the review, categorizes the complaint type (product bug, onboarding failure, support gap, pricing concern, competitor switch), scores urgency, and drafts a plain-language summary with recommended owner.

Output

Structured Slack message: review excerpt, complaint category, account segment (SMB / MM / Enterprise), urgency flag, and a suggested response angle.

Goes to

#g2-reviews-alerts → auto-routes to #cs-escalations for high severity

Why it matters

Your team learns about negative sentiment in real time — not at the next QBR. The categorization means the right person is tagged instantly: product for bugs, CS for onboarding, marketing for competitive switches.

Competitive churn signal alert

CS · ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT
Trigger

An existing customer triggers a G2 competitor comparison or pricing page signal.

What Claude does

Claude checks whether the company is in your current customer list, identifies which competitor(s) they are evaluating, assesses signal severity (single signal vs multi-signal), and drafts a recommended outreach message for the CSM.

Output

Slack alert with account name, competitor being evaluated, signal types fired, intent score, and a suggested outreach opening line the CSM can use within 48 hours.

Goes to

#churn-risk-alerts → assigned CSM’s DM for high-priority accounts

Why it matters

The average churn signal appears 60–90 days before a renewal conversation. This agent closes that gap. CSMs who reach out within a week of competitive signals have meaningfully higher save rates.

Expansion signal alert

ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT · SALES
Trigger

An existing customer begins researching adjacent software categories on G2 (e.g., your marketing automation customer starts browsing sales intelligence).

What Claude does

Claude identifies the adjacent category being browsed, assesses relevance to your product portfolio or a potential upsell conversation, and drafts a suggested expansion talking point tailored to what the customer has been researching.

Output

Slack alert with account name, category being researched, days since they first appeared in adjacent intent data, and a one-paragraph suggested expansion pitch.

Goes to

#expansion-signals → assigned AM’s DM

Why it matters

Expansion from existing customers costs a fraction of acquiring new ones. This agent surfaces the buying signal before your AM’s next scheduled touchpoint — turning a routine check-in into a timely, relevant conversation.

Automated QBR prep brief

CUSTOMER SUCCESS
Trigger

A scheduled trigger fires 14 days before a customer’s renewal date (pulled from Salesforce or your CSM platform).

What Claude does

Claude queries G2 for all activity from that account over the past 90 days: intent signals, competitive research, any review activity from their company segment, and category trend data for their industry. It synthesizes this into a structured prep document.

Output

A Slack message with a full pre-QBR intelligence brief: account G2 activity, competitive flags, peer sentiment in their segment, and 3 recommended talking points for the renewal conversation.

Goes to

CSM’s designated channel or #qbr-prep

Why it matters

CSMs currently spend 2–4 hours preparing for QBRs. This agent reduces that to minutes while surfacing data most CSMs would never think to pull — specifically competitive signals the customer may raise.

Sales intelligence agents

Put the right accounts in front of reps at the right moment. Zero manual research required.

Monday morning sales intelligence brief

SALES LEADERSHIP · AEs · SDRs
Trigger

Every Monday at 8:00am, a scheduled cron job or GitHub Actions workflow triggers.

What Claude does

Claude queries G2 for the top 10 highest-intent accounts from the past 7 days, identifies which competitors are most active in co-evaluation data, notes any week-over-week changes in category activity, and synthesizes 3 recommended priority actions for the team.

Output

A structured Slack post with a hot accounts table (company, intent score, signal types, segment), a competitive summary, a trend note, and a 3-bullet action list. Formatted for fast scanning on a phone.

Goes to

#sales-intel (entire team) or individual territory channels

Why it matters

Reps who start the week with a prioritized account list outperform those working from gut instinct or stale CRM data. This agent takes a task that would require 45 minutes of manual pulls and makes it available before the first coffee.

High-intent new account alert

AEs · SDRs · BDRs
Trigger

Any account not in your CRM’s customer list crosses an intent score threshold of 80 or above.

What Claude does

Claude confirms the account is not an existing customer, pulls firmographic context (company size, industry, country), identifies which signal types fired (profile view, pricing page, comparison), and drafts a personalized outreach opening line.

Output

Immediate Slack DM to the assigned AE (or territory-matched rep) with account name, domain, intent score, signal breakdown, employee count, and a suggested first line for an email or LinkedIn message.

Goes to

Assigned AE’s Slack DM

Why it matters

Intent score 80+ means multiple people at the same company are actively researching on G2. Every hour of delay reduces the probability of a meaningful first conversation. This agent ensures no high-intent account sits unworked.

Friday churn risk weekly digest

CSM MANAGERS · VP CS · REVOPS
Trigger

Every Friday at 4:00pm, a scheduled trigger fires against your full customer account list.

What Claude does

Claude scans all customers for competitive signals from the past 7 days, scores each by risk level (High: comparison + pricing signals, Medium: competitor profile views, Low: adjacent category browsing), and creates a prioritized list with recommended actions for each high-risk account.

Output

A structured weekly Slack digest with a tiered risk table: High Priority accounts (action required this week), Medium (monitor and schedule a check-in), Low (log for awareness). Each entry includes which competitor and what signals fired.

Goes to

#cs-leadership or #churn-risk-weekly

Why it matters

This gives CS leadership a weekly single source of truth on competitive exposure across the book of business — replacing the need for manual Salesforce queries, Looker dashboards, and anecdotal CSM updates.

Marketing & competitive intelligence agents

Keep your positioning current, your review program healthy, and your team ahead of competitive shifts.

Review velocity drop alert

MARKETING · DEMAND GENERATION
Trigger

A weekly check finds that no new reviews (or fewer than your target threshold) have been posted in the last 30 days.

What Claude does

Claude assesses the review count trend, compares it to the previous 60-day average, flags if the gap is creating risk for your G2 Grid ranking or AI search visibility (Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT), and drafts a suggested review campaign message for your customer base.

Output

Slack alert with current review count, 60-day trend, competitor review counts for context, estimated Grid ranking risk, and a draft email or in-app nudge for a review request campaign.

Goes to

#marketing-alerts or #g2-program

Why it matters

Review recency is the primary factor in whether your product appears in AI-generated search results. A 30-day gap without new reviews can quietly erode your visibility in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity — before anyone on the team notices.

New competitor in your evaluation data

PRODUCT MARKETING · SALES ENABLEMENT
Trigger

A weekly competitive scan finds a competitor product appearing in your co-evaluation data that was absent in the previous week’s data.

What Claude does

Claude identifies the new entrant, pulls any available review data for that product, assesses how frequently it is appearing, and flags whether it is replacing an existing competitor or entering as a new name in your category.

Output

Slack alert with the new competitor’s name, how many companies are co-evaluating them alongside your product, any initial review themes, and a recommended next step (add to battle cards, flag to product team, brief sales reps).

Goes to

#competitive-intel

Why it matters

New competitive entrants often go undetected for weeks because no one is manually scanning the data. By the time a rep encounters the competitor in a live deal, they have no counter-narrative ready. This agent gives you a head start.

Monthly battle card refresh

PRODUCT MARKETING · SALES ENABLEMENT
Trigger

A monthly trigger fires on the first Monday of each month for your top 3 or 4 competitors.

What Claude does

Claude pulls the latest review themes for each competitor: what buyers currently say they like, what they complain about most, which feature ratings are weakest, and how the overall rating has trended. It compares this to the previous month’s snapshot and highlights any shifts.

Output

A structured Slack post per competitor with a concise ‘what buyers say now’ summary, a ‘what changed this month’ delta, and 3 specific talking points reps can use in competitive situations. Includes a link to the full G2 competitor profile.

Goes to

#competitive-intel (pinned monthly)

Why it matters

Static battle cards go stale within weeks of being written. Competitive review sentiment shifts constantly — a competitor’s support gaps, pricing complaints, or onboarding friction are live intelligence that should inform rep conversations in real time.

Getting started with agents: Most of the agents above can be built in an afternoon using GitHub Actions (for scheduling), the Anthropic API (for Claude), the G2 MCP, and Slack webhooks or the Slack MCP. Start with one agent — we recommend the Monday Morning Sales Brief or the Negative Review Alert. Get it working, measure the impact, then expand. If you need help architecting your first agent, reach out to your G2 contact or visit support.g2.com.

What G2 MCP cannot do

Understanding the boundaries of the G2 MCP makes your prompts more effective and sets the right expectations for your team.

Tech stack or current tools used by a company

G2 does not have data on what software a company currently uses. For tech stack intelligence, tools like ZoomInfo or Clearbit are better suited.

CRM data (deals, stages, closed-won/lost)

Pipeline data lives in Salesforce or your CRM. The G2 MCP does not have visibility into open opportunities, deal stages, or historical sales data.

Call recordings, emails, or objection patterns

This data lives in Gong, Salesloft, or similar tools. G2 MCP is not in scope for conversational intelligence.

G2 Grid ranking methodology

The algorithm used to calculate Grid rankings is not exposed via the API. If asked, AI models may attempt to answer and produce inaccurate results. Avoid this query type.

Individual contact data

G2 MCP returns company-level data only. Individual names, email addresses, phone numbers, and job titles are not available through this API.

Data from other vendors

Because this is your authenticated G2 account, the MCP only surfaces data for products you own and manage. You cannot query intent or review data for companies you are not associated with.
