Frequently asked questions on G2 Badge

What is a G2 Badge?

A G2 Badge is a globally recognized digital seal of approval awarded to software products and services that rank highly in their respective categories.

Unlike paid certifications, these badges are earnedstrong> based on authentic peer reviews and proprietary market data. Think of them as the "Michelin Stars" of the B2B software world.

How are Badges earned?

You need at least 20 reviews with a 4+ star rating to earn the Users Love us badge. For grid and other paid badges, G2 calculates these awards every quarter (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall) using two main factors:

  • Customer Satisfaction: Derived from actual user reviews (ratings, quality of reviews, and recency).
  • Market Presence: Based on market share, seller size, and social impact.

These scores are pulled from all reviews, but reviews are weighted based on recency. Therefore, more recent reviews hold a higher weight.

What kinds of Badges can I earn?

1. Grid® Report Badges (The "Core" Badges)

These are awarded based on a product's placement on the G2 Grid, which measures Satisfaction vs. Market Presence.

  • Leader: Top right quadrant (High Satisfaction, High Presence).
  • High Performer: Top left quadrant (High Satisfaction, Lower Presence).
  • Contender & Niche: These quadrants generally do not receive badges, as they signify lower satisfaction or presence scores.

2. Index Report Badges (The "Performance" Badges)

These focus on specific operational strengths. To earn these, a product must rank #1 in its category for that specific index.

  • Best Results: Highest overall results score (ROI, meeting requirements).
  • Best Usability: Highest scores for ease of use and administration.
  • Most Implementable: Highest scores for ease of setup and implementation.
  • Best Relationship: Highest scores for "Ease of Doing Business With" and "Quality of Support."

3. Momentum & Regional Badges (The "Growth" Badges)

These recognize products that are trending or dominating specific markets.

  • Momentum Leader: Awarded to products in the top 25% of their category for growth (web traffic, social growth, and employee growth).
  • Regional Leader: Includes "Leader Americas," "Leader Europe," "Leader Asia Pacific," etc.
  • Segment Leader: Specific to company size, such as "Enterprise Leader," "Mid-Market Leader," or "Small Business Leader."

4. Annual "Best Software" Awards

These are special "Best of 2026" badges released once a year in February. They are much harder to get and are typically limited to the top 100 or top 50 products in a massive category (e.g., "Best Global Software Product" or "Best Sales Product").

5. Milestone Badges

  • Users Love Us: The only badge available to both free and paid profiles. It is earned automatically once a product reaches 20 reviews with an average rating of 4.0 stars or higher.
What are the guidelines for displaying G2 Badges?

All G2 Badges must be shown strictly in compliance with the G2 Community Guidelines for Businesses, which govern proper usage, licensing, and attribution to maintain the integrity of the G2 marketplace. The full guidelines are available here: G2 Community Guidelines for Businesses.
