Frequently asked questions on G2 complete profile

What is the difference between a "Free" and an "Upgraded" Profile?

Every software product can have a free profile on G2, but upgrading unlocks "Premium" features that change how you capture leads:

  • Free Profiles: Allow for basic descriptions, a logo, and review collection. However, G2 may show "Similar Products" (your competitors) at the bottom of your page.
  • Upgraded Profiles: These are "clean" profiles where competitor ads are removed. You also gain Custom CTA buttons (e.g., "Request a Demo" or "Free Trial"), the ability to gate content (like whitepapers), and the option to add video headers and robust product screenshots.
Can I merge multiple product profiles into one?

Yes, but it depends on the use case. Companies often find themselves with duplicate profiles due to acquisitions or rebranding.

  • The Process: You can request a "Profile Merge" through the My.G2 admin. G2 will combine the reviews and traffic from both pages into a single destination.
  • The Catch: G2’s Market Research team must verify that the products are truly the same. You cannot merge two distinct products (e.g., an Email Marketing tool and a CRM) just to "stack" review counts; they must serve the same core category purpose.
How do I improve my profile's "G2 Score" and Grid® position?

Your profile's performance on the G2 Grid® is determined by the G2 Algorithm, which looks at two main factors:

  • Satisfaction: This is driven by your Review Velocity (how many reviews you get and how recently they were submitted). To keep this high, you should run quarterly review generation campaigns.
  • Market Presence: This is influenced by your company’s size, social media following, and web traffic. Ensuring your LinkedIn Company Page and Similarweb data are accurate helps G2 pull the correct signals for your profile.
